Seller optimism has reached a four-year high, with 65% saying they feel confident in getting their asking price, up 25% since 2010, according to the latest American Express Spending & Saving Tracker. Additionally, only about 30% of Americans feel that it?s a buyer?s market, down from 47% in 2010. |
Even though sellers appear to have an advantage, 71% of homeowners say they are willing to make additional concessions to sell their home in today?s market ? up from 60% in 2010. For example, more than 20% are willing to pay for buyer?s closing costs, while nearly half (47%) would offer to include appliances. Some 36% of homeowners are willing to take care of repairs requested by buyers. And 16% said they would include their furniture. |
Despite feeling more flexible on concessions, more sellers say they will be making certain improvements less of a priority. Things such as making small repairs, painting, improving landscaping, removing clutter and updating appliances. |
