Even if you owe more than what your home is worth, you may still be able to refinance. Ask yourself these three questions:
- Have I always made my mortgage payments on time?
- Did I get my loan before May 31, 2009?
- Do I have a Fannie Mae or FHA loan?
If the answers to all three of those questions are yes, there is a high likelihood you can refinance even if your loan is ?underwater?. Two very popular loan programs that allow you to refinance an underwater mortgage are the Home Affordable Refinance Program (Harp) and an FHA Streamline Refinance.
